Virtual worlds conference on libraries, etc.

It is not quite too late to submit a proposal for a demo or presentation, and it is most definitely not too late to sign up for participation in this conference.  This is just one of the many “spare time” activities that I have enjoyed as a result of participating in virtual worlds.  I have become good friends with people in the Alliance Library System, who have the rich environment of Info Island and surrounding Second Life territory.  This has  put me back in touch with my library roots, and fun things are happening. like presenting at my alma mater, SJSU.

Aside from all that, the conference should be fun.  It is only a half-day event, and will be offered twice to help cover all time zones.  Feel free to sign up, show up, and contribute your L8000 to the cause of virtual learning!

I guess it could only happen in cyberspace. Making friends with librarians in Illinois while living in Northern California, and then reconnecting to schools in the South Bay.

Running the conference twice to cover time zones reflects that we can’t completely escape the confines of the physical world.

You’re right about the only in cyberspace, and I think really only in the virtual world could this have happened in my life.

We’re so well-subscribed that we are going to have two completely different versions of the content in the two time-zones. So we’ll see how this works out.
